Good Morning! Due to the number of questions that I have been getting about my daily skincare routine, I figured that I would just go ahead and document it here! So, if you don’t know me personally, you won’t know that I haven’t always had “good skin.” Breakouts are something that I have been trying to get a handle on since I can remember. I have always admired women who have “glowing” skin that don’t need to wear makeup to even out their complexion/hide anything– I wanted this for myself. To be so honest, I don’t really like to wear a whole lot of makeup, as you will know if you follow me on Instagram (Grace.E.Allen), it makes my skin feel clogged and weighed down. I do 100% believe that makeup can be used to accentuate beauty, but the thought of using makeup to cover up what we really are/turn us into our favorite celeb (helloooo contouring queens!!), etc just isn’t really my jam. It has taken me a long time to get to the place in my life where I am “okay” being seen as I really am. I have found that it is one of those things that you just kind of have to force yourself into (or just become a Mama and realize that you have 5 min a day to “put yourself together” and it kind of takes care of itself).
So, back to the point of this post: if you don’t have perfect skin, welcome to the club– I don’t either! As I am growing older, anti aging and skincare has become something that I am focusing a whole lot more on. Keep in mind that this is the end of July in the South– these products will change as the seasons and weather change, but, for now, this is what I have been rocking with and I love it enough to share it with you! This needs to be stated: this morning skincare routine assumes that you have fully removed makeup prior to going to bed** (I used to be guilty in college of sleeping in my makeup and it makes me literally cringe to think back to those days— probably a big reason why I had skin issues).
Step 1: Upon waking, splash face with cold water– allow to air dry, do NOT rub off with a towel.
Step 2: Spritz face with Mario Badescu Rosewater spray–allow again, to air dry.
Step 3: Apply Beauty Counter Brightening + Vitamin C serum to entire face. I have found that 4 drops is sufficient enough for my entire face. Place the drops onto finger tips and press* product into skin, do not rub. Allow this to seep into skin for at least 3-5 minutes before moving to the next step.
Step 4: Apply Estee Lauder Day Wear Facial Lotion all over entire face and neck. This has a delicious super refreshing, yet, subtle enough, cucumber smell that instantly makes me forget that I am standing in my bathroom and not at a fancy spa.
Step 5: Topical skin care is super important, but what we put into our bodies is just as important, if not more. I have found that Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides have been an answer to my prayers, so much so that I am going to dedicate a post completely to Collagen Peptides! But, for now, the final step to my morning skincare routine is to enjoy a collagen iced- coffee!
I have linked the products that I use in the morning below, click on the photo to be directed to shop! Enjoy, and as always, let me know if you have any questions!
Put your best face forward. xo, Grace
