As you guys know by now, I have a thing for skincare. I have mentioned this before in other posts but this obsession with having beautiful skin isn’t something that has always been a priority for me. I wish that I could say otherwise because it would’ve saved me a lot of time in front of the mirror applying makeup and time worrying about if people were actually seeing me, or seeing my breakouts. I can’t help but wonder if I could’ve avoided all of those things by simply paying better attention and caring more for my skin earlier in life. Think about your skincare routine, how many products do you find yourself using on a daily basis? Do you even have a skincare routine? I always find myself panicking a little bit when I have a facial and the esthetician says (as she is examining my face under a super UV lamp so strong that I have to wear protective eye gear) “so, what does your skincare routine look like?” Instant panic. Is she asking because she thinks my skin is beautiful? Is she asking because she sees things that only she can see with that superpower light? We will never know, but what I do know, is that I panic every. single. time. Dramatic? Maybe. But, knowing that I will be asked this question has caused me to take the time to think about my skin and find what kind of “routine” works for me.
The thing that i’ve had the hardest time finding is the balance between preventing breakouts (that I still get, even at 27) and preventing aging at the same time. I don’t know if this is something that anybody else struggles with, but it has been the struggle for me for the last year or two. It’s like, the products that help with breakouts dry out your skin, while the products that help with anti-aging and “glow” add moisture– sometimes too much moisture and then I find myself literally canceling out either “preventing breakouts” or “preventing aging.” To be honest, this is 2017, I feel like I should be able to do both– insert AverrAglow.
As you know, I am constantly researching and keeping an eye out for new products and new companies that fit my lifestyle. When I stumbled across AverrAglow on Instagram, I wont lie, I was initially captivated by the appearance of their products. Super chic. Simple. All the things that I like. Once I started reading about their products and found out that they are natural, vegan, don’t test on animals, AND that they pride themselves on “providing skincare for breakout prone, sensitive, problematic skin” as well as “restoring skin for a hydrated, glowing complexion” AND that the products are made with over 70 plant and minerals to achieve lasting, clear results (hellooooo, you can use during pregnancy and breastfeeding) I was freaking sold.
I am going to be honest, I wasn’t sure what my expectations were, but when my Clear Skin Kit arrived and I saw the packaging and tried the products for the first time, I was really impressed. It’s hard to say what my favorite product from the routine is because they are all so great and different from one another. I love that AverrAglow makes it simple by labeling the products 1,2,3 & 4. If you are new to finding a skincare routine that works for you, this is literally fool proof and I couldn’t recommend it more.
As always, I will never recommend a product that I haven’t used and seen results with. I received the Clear Skin Kit at the end of September, and I told myself that I wouldn’t fully review it until I have used it for at least 6 weeks. Keep in mind, I was pregnant and breastfeeding so my hormones were crazy. Now that I am no longer pregnant, but still breastfeeding, my hormones are crazy, but in a different way. I am happy to say that through this transition my skin has been for the most part clear (minus the random little pimple), and glowing.
I only use the full routine lineup for daytime. At night, I use some other products that I have been using (and talk about often) with the addition of Step 3 Clear Skin Elixir (overnight spot treatment drying mask) if I have breakouts that need to be treated. I am going to go through and describe each product below, as well as include what I love most about each. As always, when I find something great, I want to share it with all of you. There are so many products on the market that all promise to do similar things, yet I know that they all don’t work the way they claim to– so, when I find something that I truly believe in, I don’t stay quiet about it. As always, if you have any specific questions please don’t hesitate to comment on this post, or message me on Instagram.
#1 Clarifying Hydration Dew: Let me start by saying that this is like the Mario Badescu spray, but on steroids. It smells amazing: two words, rosewater & cucumbers= refreshing. Contains plant extracts that are loaded with antioxidants and it is pH balanced– perfect for sensitive skin. $29
#2 Radiant Cleansing Nectar: This cleanser is unlike anything you have ever used. It is the perfect balance between gentle and tough. It unclogs pores, eliminates acne-causing bacteria, yet leaves skin feeling moisturized and supple. I don’t know about you, but every other product that I have used that promises to unclog my pores leaves me feeling like I need to dunk my face in a bowl of moisture after finishing. This cleanser is to be applied to a cotton pad and doesn’t require rinsing. It’s more like a spa treatment than it is a face cleanser and it smells amazing. It’s jam packed with vitamins E, C, B and Omega 3&6 which combined helps to heal current breakouts while preventing future breakouts. Music to my ears. $34
#3 Clear Skin Elixir: This is the step that I include in my nightly routine when I have spots that need to be treated. You will smell scents of tea tree oil, bergamot and chamomile. It is to be applied and left on overnight. If you have oily skin or acne that is more than a few spots, this can be used on the entire face, it isn’t just a “spot treatment” (this is just how I have chosen to use it personally). What I love is that when I apply it before bed it stays put all night and when I wake up I am not dry, yet the inflammation from the pimple is drastically reduced. It’s made with French Pink Clay which is rich in minerals that pull out impurities, all while smoothing and refining pores and skin (remember that dilemma that I mentioned above about finding that balance between preventing acne & aging– this is the product that I always dreamed of). $49
#4 Flawless Nourishment Cream: If I am being honest, this is probably my favorite product in the lineup. When I tell you that after applying I have an instant glow, I am so not kidding (which is why I don’t even want to waste it for night). This cream is full of nutrients and rich in Omega 3,6 &9– which help with new skin growth, repairing skin and healing scars and breakouts. One thing that I will say is that you don’t need nearly as much as recommended to cover your entire face. It is super rich and a little goes a long way (aka, it will last forever). $43
The products are all available to be purchased separately, or you can purchase the entire Clear Skin Kit which includes all four of the products listed above for $149.99. Christmas is right around the corner, so think about keeping this one on your list, or gifting these products to a friend && keep your eye out for a giveaway 🙂
