So, you’re coming to Atlanta for the Super Bowl? Congrats! Whether you’re visiting because you have a family member playing in the game or you just want to be a part of the incredible Super Bowl environment, welcome! Speaking from the perspective of a person who has had a loved one play in this absolutely amazing game– get ready for the time of your life. This weekend (or week, depending on how long you plan to be in town for) will be one that you will never forget, regardless of the outcome of the game. I remember the night before the big game so vividly; Luca and I were in our hotel room and I was getting him ready for bed, he was about 10 months old and it just kind of hit me like omg this is the BIGGEST moment of Rico’s career and a flood of emotions kind of took over me as I took a trip down memory lane– college games, combine training, draft day, the day he got cut, the day he got promoted to active roster, the day he changed positions, the day he became a starter, the day he won the first game of Coach Q’s time in ATL with an interception with 30 seconds left, the day they won the NFC Championship game and I danced on the field with Luca on my hip with tears streaming down my face… to this moment– the night before the Super Bowl. All of this aside; I want you to have the best experience of your life in Atlanta and I wanted to round up some of my favorites that our city has to offer. I am still not sure if we plan to be in town for Super Bowl weekend, but if there is ANYTHING at all that I can do to help you have the best time here please do not hesitate to ask! xo, G.
WHERE TO EAT.
Let’s be real– one of my favorite parts of traveling is experiencing new restaurants and food. Below I have rounded up some of my favorites in the Atlanta area.
Le Bilboquet is hands down my absolute favorite date night spot. You will literally feel like you have been teleported to France. It’s quaint and romantic. Order the cajun chicken and get the chocolate mousse for dessert. You won’t regret it.
St. Cecilia is another of my favorite date night spots. It is an experience. The aesthetic is to die for, the food is incredible, the bar is beautiful– even if you just pop in for a drink this is a spot you don’t want to miss. If you would consider yourself a seafood or pasta lover– this is your spot. The burrata is a great way to start, then order scallops, branzino, squid ink pasta or gnudi. It’s all so good.
American Cut is your all American steak house with an elegant vibe. It’s a multi level restaurant and the rooftop is home to The Regent Cocktail Club which is super cool.
Taverna is one of my absolute favorite laid back, chill, yet delicious spots in Buckhead. You can show up there wearing absolutely anything that you want. The risotto is phenom and the pastas are all delicious. You truly cannot go wrong.
Umi is the ONLY spot to consider for sushi in Atlanta. It’s a small place, be sure to make a reservation and to dress appropriately and also be sure to order the entire menu. Yellowfin with jalepeno and black cod miso are two of our favorites.
South City Kitchen is the place if you want to experience true southern comfort food with a modern twist! They have shrimp and grits and fried chicken that is bomb.com!
Things To Do
Ponce City Market is the spot. If you do one thing while you’re in Atlanta, please make it Ponce City Market. This place is so cool– there’s shopping, amazing food options and a roof top that has mini golf and all of your classic boardwalk style games. Grab a beer and stroll through with your kids in tow, or make this a date night experience– either way, you can’t go wrong. P
Georgia Aquarium is an experience for sure– especially if you are bringing your kids with on this trip.
Lenox Mall and Phipps Plaza are home to the best indoor shopping in Atlanta. The two are located just diagonal of one another in Buckhead. Lenox has all of your typical stores; Madewell, Gap, Zara, Sephora, and a few upscale stores as well; Neiman’s, Louis Vuitton, Cartier. Phipps is all luxury– Gucci, Saint Laurent, Saks.
The Shops At Buckhead is the best outdoor, luxury shopping. Even if you don’t plan to make a larger purchase you need to make it a point to wander around on a beautiful day. Not to mention, 3 of the restaurants I highlighted above are located here.
The Painted Pin is an upscale boutique style bowling spot! They also have great cocktails and food. This is definitely a good date night or group night out spot! Make sure to check the dress code before arriving– they are strict about baseball hats for men and joggers.
Vitality Medical Spa is the BEST spot to get a facial or some last minute Botox before the big game. Vanessa will give you the best facial massage that you’ve ever had in your life, promise. This spa is lush and luxurious, but the people are the kindest you’ve ever met. Mention my blog or that I sent you and you’ll receive 20% off all aesthetic services (facials, dermaplaning, etc) and 10% off injectables! Be sure to call to make an appt ASAP (they book to capacity almost daily). 678-394-0061! The spa is located in Suwanee Towne Center which has some boutiques and restaurants as well as a big open green space for the kids or pets to play!
Urban Pilates is my absolute favorite place to do pilates. Their equipment is state of the art and the vibe of the studio is literally all. the. things. If you workout to relieve stress, or to feel good in your party dress– this is the place. I promise you that you won’t regret it. If you want to do a private session, or gather a few girlfriends and have the place to yourself, both are options! Call 770-235-1917 to schedule an appointment– and be sure to tell them that I referred you 🙂
I truly hope that you enjoy your time in Atlanta! If there is anything at all that I can do to help, please let me know! Also– we won’t be using our babysitters for the weekend of the game so if you need a sitter to come to your hotel/condo/etc, text or DM me!
welcome to Atlanta. xo, G
